Unlocking net zero value: capturing the carbon value of ELOVAC®
Description

As the water sector pushes toward Net Zero, cutting emissions isn’t just good for the planet, it’s at the same time a very good business case for utilities. ELOVAC® reduces dissolved methane emissions from anaerobic digestion by vacuum degassing, directly tackling one of the most potent greenhouse gases. ELOVAC® is a proven and fully established technology, delivering real-world results.  This presentation reveals the financial value of these emission reductions, using the UK Government carbon valuation guidance to convert methane savings into CO₂e and pounds (£). Drawing on operational data we’ll show how ELOVAC® delivers quantifiable carbon cost savings, strengthens ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) performance, and helps future-proof operations against carbon prices. We quantify the impact of ELOVAC® using real operational data, including results from the Thames Water full scale demo and full scale European sites. This will show that ELOVAC® is a powerful process optimisation tool, as well as a strategic investment in a lower carbon, lower cost future.   To show the full potential of ELOVAC®, we’ll expand on further application areas of vacuum degassing, like food waste AD and industrial anaerobic wastewater treatment. We’ll share operational experiences with ELOVAC®, and challenges encountered on the way as we expanded into new sectors and applications.
