Finding the leaks we didn't know we had
Description
Methane emissions are an increasing area of focus within bioresources, but they can often be difficult to identify before they become a significant issue. To help tackle this, Severn Trent has implemented a Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) programme across its bioresources sites using optical gas imaging technology.
This presentation will cover how the programme has been developed and used to identify, quantify and track fugitive emissions across operational assets. All surveys and findings are recorded within a central dashboard, allowing leaks to be prioritised, repaired and monitored over time.
The presentation will include a number of site case studies showing where emissions were identified, the actions taken to resolve them and the impact of those repairs. It will also explore how leak quantification has helped us better understand the scale of emissions across our assets and demonstrate the benefit of intervention.
The aim is to share the practical lessons learned from implementing LDAR and how the information gathered can be used to support emission reduction across bioresources operations.
